While this is on display at the Getty, it reminds me of the backdoor politics on display here in Ventura County, specifically Simi Valley. From our Council to our Parks and Recreation board and yes our School Board. Let's take our school board. We have 4 entrenched vested interests back door experts apparently. They have been elected for so long, they have lost touch of their focus "our children"!
For instance........They budget 94.6% of their money to salaries. Read that again. 94.6%!! The rest goes to upkeep, school books, pc's, grounds maintenance, etc. The average in our state is 85%.
They are projected to be $30,000,000 in debt by 2014-2015! They appear to walk in lockstep with the school superintendent, who has a contract that requires a super majority to terminate her. A super majority is 4 out of 5 votes. If she is terminated early, I believe her buy out is $500,000!!
Is it voter apathy that allows this? Is it parents unaware of the problem? I am reminded that it is possible to lose control of local schools if they fail the standards set up by the state. IF that happens, the locals here will more than likely see their taxes go up to fund the corrections needed to educate our children.
we were reminded the other day that many parents are moving their children to private schools or out of city schools such as Moorpark, etc. With reduced school attendance, we lose MORE state and federal dollars for our schools.
    This must be stopped! SOON!!
