SINCE MOVING TO FLORIDA

Ok.  I moved from southern Calif to central Florida on Dec 21 2014. That date is important to us because being in the home prior to the new year and being a veteran allowed us to claim a homestead exemption on the property which means saving in taxes.
It was an interesting move. The company we hired to move us raised the price the morning of the move. I was already in Florida in our new home so it hit Mary pretty hard. She literally had no choice. Then, the auto transport company arrived the evening before she was to go the LAX to fly here. She also had to transport our 2 cats and our puppy. She had it tough.
All we could do when she arrived was use our deluxe air bed, paper plates, and plastic utensils for us and the pets. They couldn't go outside because we hadn't installed a fence yet. Fun, fun, fun.
Then......The furniture was delayed. Twice. Once because the driver drove the rig off the road and his assistant [not licensed] had to take over until the moving company could hire a driver to meet the van and take over. The movers arrived late[supposed to be here at about 8:00 am], about 5:oo pm in a light rain. What a fu--ing disaster! The driver said he was hired to bring things in and not place in the rooms where they were supposed to go. The he said the things that were disassembled in our old home wasn't his responsibility to reassemble. We spoke for a few minutes until I asked for his bill of lading, took pictures of this license plate, his van markings and i.d. Then he became cooperative. I thought we had it fixed.
I was not aware that there were many boxes we never received. I didn't know we would have delivered to us some other families belongings. There was no way to identify the owners. I had an electric portable drill box delivered but the drill that was in it wasn't there. We lost a 6' step ladder! Are you kidding me?
After a few weeks of putting things away, sorting thru stuff and buying what we needed that was not delivered, and fixing replacing or repairing "lost" items, we tried for about the 4th or 5th time to finalize this with the company, Bi-Rite Moving and Storage, and were referred to an arbitrator.
Let me cut to the chase. After sending documents of loss, pictures of damaged or broken items, we were offered just over $30.00 because we didn't pay for the additional insurance. To accept the $30 meant I could never mention my experience again.

I DON'T NEED OR WANT YOUR $30.00! YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS BECAUSE YOU HIT PEOPLE AT THEIR WEAKEST. THEY ARE TIRED, OVER WROUGHT, ANXIOUS AND SCARRED.
